Joseph Wheelwright carves stones into monumental heads and turns trees upside-down to make walking giants. He is also currently carving figures from roots, some cast into bronze. Joe has been honored with an ongoing, two-year exhibition of monumental tree figures at Katonah Museum in Katonah NY. His recent “Sleeping Moon,” a monumental bronze, joined the collection of the City of Boston in 2010, residing in Peabody Square. Joe is represented in New York by the Allan Stone Gallery and in Miami by Oxenberg Fine Art. His summer studio in Vermont includes a bronze foundry and cranes for creating the tree figures.
