Kitty Wales: “For the past 15 years I have made sculpture based on direct observations of the animal world. Most recently I returned from Longhorn cattle ranches in eastern Texas. These experiences allow me to more fully understand the structure, anatomy, and gestural movements of a specific species. I am interested in connecting the viewer to an unexpected place and often modify the appearance of a space to present an altered context to the gallery setting. The material used to fabricate my sculpture is salvaged from domestic life and has a recognizable history.”
